Lexington is a wonderful place to call home. While we take pride in what makes Lexington special, there are always areas where we can do better. I believe that the role of our City Council is to address the practical, everyday issues that affect all of us. When elected, I am committed to focusing on the key areas where we can make meaningful improvements, enhancing the quality of life for everyone in our community.

PROGRESS

Advocate for policies that empower our city to progress while embracing our heritage

As a real estate agent, I understand the importance of our land. Lexington's land is finite, and we must develop it wisely to preserve the beautiful farmland that defines our identity. In order to do this, we must first take a hard look at our outdated zoning regulations and decide how the city can work together with neighbors, developers, lenders, and other key players to allow our city to progress without losing our identity.

RELIABILITY

Position the city as a dependable partner, ensuring consistency so residents and businesses can confidently live, work, and grow

Residents should have reliable, safe, and consistent services, from utilities to planning processes. Our current planning processes cause confusion and leave a lot of room for subjectivity. Small businesses spend a lot of time and money attempting to enhance our community and are often met with resistance when they have an innovative idea. Improving planning processes along with cleaning up our zoning regulations, will help local businesses understand and navigate their challenges from the start.

INNOVATION

Foster a culture of innovation throughout Lexington, encouraging creative solutions and forward-thinking initiatives

Lexington has long been a hub for learning, innovation, and creativity — a legacy we must continue. With a major research university just steps from downtown and a historic liberal arts college at its heart, our city is uniquely positioned to drive innovation. We should be harnessing the talent and ideas from these institutions to grow local businesses, ensuring our students find opportunities here rather than elsewhere.

CONNECTIVITY

Enhance how residents connect with each other and the city, while improving physical connections within the city

Connectivity in Lexington is about improving both physical infrastructure and social interaction. To ease traffic, we must enhance our streets and roads while also expanding alternative transportation options like public transit, biking, and walking. By making our city more walkable and bike-friendly, we can reduce traffic congestion and promote healthier, more sustainable living. Additionally, we need to invest in public spaces that foster organic social connections, creating a stronger sense of community among residents.

EFFICIENCY

Identify & improve processes to maximize resources & minimize waste in city governance, aiming to reduce taxpayer burdens

Homeowners are experiencing increases in property tax bills, which are connected to our city budget. To address this issue, we need to manage the budget efficiently and ensure proper oversight. This involves tracking fund allocation, minimizing waste, and using taxpayer money effectively. By refining our budget practices, we can help ease the financial impact on homeowners and improve our city's fiscal management.
